What's conflict Minerals?

The conflict minerals refer to the four minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold) illegally mined in Congo and neighboring countries. The profits obtained from the trade of conflict minerals flow into the military funds of the rebels, resulting in a vicious cycle of civilian killings, forced labor, and female abuse. As a result, to regulate the use of conflict minerals, the US Congress enacted the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in 2010, and thereby US-listed companies must report the use of conflict minerals to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
